The Council covers a wide range of services which are delivered by the following 10 business units:

Financial Management Services - Responsible for Accountancy, Treasury Management,  Risk Management & Insurances, Income Control, Debtors, Cashiers, Creditors, Payroll and Procurement.

Green and Clean - Refuse & Recycling (inc. composting), Cleansing of Street & Open Spaces, Coastal Protection, Countryside Management, Playing Fields, Pest Control, Parks & Open Spaces, Cemeteries, Vehicles & Plant, Highways – Liaison. Grounds Maintenance and Local Nature Reserves

Housing and Environmental Protection Unit -  Responsible for Housing Management, Housing Maintenance, Environmental Health, Food Safety, Dog Control, Land Drainage, Emergency Planning.

Human Resources and Performance Management -Responsible for Enhancing Individual & Corporate Performance, Management Support, Training & Organisational Learning Programmes & Policies, Continuous Improvement & Quality Programmes, Overseeing Corporate Best Value Programmes, Personnel Policy, Strategic Partnership – HR, Public Relations & Communications

ICT Partnership - Improved Access to Services, ICT Strategic Management, ICT Partnership (+ Development), IEG – Implement & Co-ordinate, Telephones 

Legal and Democratic Services - Responsible for Legal, Democratic Services & Administration, Scrutiny, Land Charges, Corporate Complaints,, Electoral Services & Registration, Civic & Secretarial Services, Licensing and Enforcement

Leisure and Cultural services - responsible for sport, arts and creative economy development, the Positive Futures programme, museums, tourism, play, events, festivals and the Community Fund.

Planning Services Unit - Responsible for Building Control; Conservation; Development Control and Strategic Planning.

Regeneration and Partnerships - Responsible for Local Strategic Partnership,  Economic Development, Business Support, Project Management and Development, Partner Support and Community Development.  Specific projects include Castle Woods and Water (Liveability project) and Castle Morpeth On Line.

Revenues Unit - Responsible for Council Tax, Business Rates, Housing and Council Tax Benefits, Benefit Fraud, Concessionary Travel, Car Parking and First Call our one stop shop for all customer enquiries.
