Transitional Arrangements
It will take time for the complete set of documents in the Local Development Framework to be prepared. The new Act makes provision for transitional arrangements to allow for a smooth handover between the old system and the new and so that it is not necessary to replace the entire Local Plan straight away.
It allows for the policies and proposals in the existing Local Plan to be "saved" for a period of three years from commencement of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, or the adoption of the Local Plan, whichever is the latter.
Saved Policies and Plans
Castle Morpeth Borough Council has the option to 'save' existing planning documents under the transitional arrangements of the new system so that they can still be used in the determination of planning applications. Any 'saved' documents will remain of relevance in the decision making process until either:
They are replaced by a Local Development Document
or;
they become redundant and withdrawn by the Council.
Castle Morpeth Borough Council submitted a Local Plan Saved Policies Document to Government Office North East and this has been approved.
If you would like to view the Saved Policies Document or the letter received from Government Office North East then please use the links in the document list on the right.
Additional copies of the Saved Policies document can be made available, please contact First Call on the number below.
The Saved Policies document can also be viewed at the Council’s One Stop Shop between 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday:
