The Council administers a grant system and the provision of financial assistance towards the cost of carrying out adaptations to dwellings occupied or intended for occupation by a person with a disability. Grant assistance may be given to owner occupiers, tenants and landlords. In most cases the amount of grant assistance they may be given is subject to a ‘means test’, although this does not apply where the application is for a disabled child or a young person under the age of nineteen.
