There is no charge for fishing withing the Morpeth Town boundry of the river Wansbeck but anglers must possess the appropriate licence and abide to the fishing seasons, elsewhere in the Borough the landowner must be consulted.

Fontburn Reservoir ( Stocked Rainbow and Brook, Wild Brown). Off the B6342, 6 miles south of Rothbury. Bank fishing only (fly and worm). 2002 seasons: Brown and brook: 22 March-30 September; Rainbow: 22 March-31 October: 2002 prices: £15 Day tickets, £13 concessions, from machine at fishing lodge (£1, £2 and 50p coins only). Sleekburn Water (Rainbow). New still water lake at the "Earth Balance" environmental project at Bomarsund, near Bedlington. Fishing from lakeside platforms (fly only) with good disabled access. 2003 prices: Morning (1am - 7am): £15 catch and take first 2 fish, catch and return after. Day (7am - 4pm): £15 catch and take first 2 fish, catch and return after. Evening £15 catch and take 2 fish,catch and return after. Sweethope Lough (Rainbow and brown). 3 miles east of the A68 near Ridsdale, 8 miles south of Otterburn. Bank and boat fishing (fly only). 2003 prices: £10 for 4hrs (3 fish) plus £5 per boat, £16 for 8hrs (3 fish), £20 for 8hrs (6 fish). Advance booking advised for boats. Tel: +44 (0)1830 540349.
