Castle Morpeth Borough Council works in partnership with Northumberland County Council, Northumbria Police and Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service to deliver the AVAIL scheme (Abandoned Vehicle Action, Information & Liaison).

The AVAIL scheme uses Northumbria Police’s Recovery staff and specialist vehicle recovery operators to remove abandoned vehicles.

A free phone hotline number has been established for any member of the public to use to report abandoned vehicles.

We aim to remove at least 90% of abandoned vehicles within 24 hours of their being reported.
