Car Parking Fines (referred to as standard charge tickets)
The standard charge for failing to comply with any of the regulations is £60 (reduced to £30 for payment within 14 days) for all but one offence. There is no discount for the offence of parking in a disabled bay without a valid badge – the full charge of £60 is payable immediately. You can pay online and by telephone 24 Hours a day, 7 days a week.
It is your responsibility to comply with the parking regulations:
You must ensure that:
- A valid machine ticket or permit, Blue Badge, and correctly set timer disc are clearly visible from the outside of your vehicle before you leave it parked.
- You buy a ticket for sufficient time for your business allowing for possible delays.
- You check that all your coins have registered in the machine window before you press the green button for a ticket.
- You check the departure time on the machine ticket and ensure that you remove your car or purchase another ticket before the departure time expires.
- You do not overstay the maximum stay period allowed in the car park.
- You always park in a marked bay (except Greys Yard where there are no marked bays).
- You do not park in a disabled bay without a valid Blue Badge.
Notices on the machine clearly state the charges, the maximum stay period and the fact that the machine will not give change. The car parks officers do check vehicles thoroughly and they do allow some time for you to get change or to load and unload. However if they see that you have not complied with the regulations they must issue a Standard Charge Ticket.
Disabled bays must be reserved only for those who can display a valid Blue Badge. They are deliberately placed closer to shopping areas and are often larger for ease of access especially for wheelchairs. It is highly inconsiderate for able bodied people to park in these bays and so deny them to authorised users. The full charge of £60 is payable immediately for this offence.
